Dogecoin Is 89.7% Below Its Peak While Hyperliquid Sits Just 10.4% Away: The 10 Biggest Coins Ranked Against Their All-Time Highs

Dogecoin is 89.7% below its all-time high. Hyperliquid is just 10.4% away. Between those two extremes sits the entire story of the crypto market in November 2026: Bitcoin is 38.3% below its peak, Ethereum 54.2%, Solana 67.7% — and yet, in a week when Bitcoin fell 3.1%, 13 of the 50 largest coins still finished higher. The discount from a record high is the most-shared number in crypto, and also one of the most misunderstood. This article ranks the 10 biggest coins against their peaks, explains what the gap actually measures, and gives you five checks to run before you ever buy an "ATH discount."

All ranking figures below come from the November 1, 2026 weekly market wrap calculated from CoinGecko data, with prices recorded on November 1 at 14:00 UTC. Bitcoin traded at $77,874 when the wrap was compiled, down 3.1% on the week and 10.2% over 30 days, while total crypto market value stood at $2.61 trillion, down 2.7% since October 25. The median move across the top 50 was -1.8% — a down week, but far from a uniform rout.

The Full Ranking: The 10 Biggest Coins vs Their All-Time Highs

Here is the complete top 10, ranked by market value, with each coin's distance from its record high:

Dogecoin (DOGE)$13.0 billion-1.3%89.7%
Monero (XMR)$11.3 billion-0.8%24.4%

Read the table from both ends and the story jumps out. At one end, Hyperliquid is the only top-10 coin within 15% of its peak. At the other, Dogecoin would need to rise roughly 870% just to revisit its old high — a reminder that a "90% discount" is not a bargain label, it is a measure of how far a price has to climb. In the middle, Bitcoin's 38.3% gap looks almost modest, and Monero's 24.4% gap — the second-smallest — reflects a coin that just printed an 8-year high at $677, as we covered in our report on Monero dethroning Zcash while the Zcash team quit.

Bitcoin's dominance stood at 59.9%, down slightly from 60.1% a week earlier, with Ether holding 10.6% of total market value. That dominance number matters for the ranking: when nearly 60 cents of every crypto dollar sits in Bitcoin, the "average coin" experience is very different from the Bitcoin experience — and this week proved it, with 27 of the other 49 large coins beating Bitcoin's weekly return.

The Week That Made the Ranking

The ranking did not appear out of nowhere. It was shaped by a week in which Bitcoin traded a 7.0% range — a high of $81,692 on Thursday, October 29, and a low of $76,360 on Friday, October 30 — and closed in the lower third of that range. The low came after the high, so the larger move inside the week was downward, following the $6.3 billion Binance hack that the FBI has attributed to North Korea.

The week's biggest gainers in the top 50 tell you where risk appetite actually went:

  • Hyperliquid (HYPE) led the market at $88.13, up 15.3% on the week — though it is still down 3.3% over 30 days, so the move recovers earlier losses rather than setting new ground.
  • Pepe (PEPE) gained 10.9% to $0.000004926, and is up 10.1% over 30 days — the only top gainer also positive over the month.
  • Morpho (MORPHO) rose 10.3% to $2.29, a move we examined in depth in our Morpho analysis: a 14% jump on $2.14 billion of deposits, but zero protocol revenue.
  • Quant (QNT) added 9.1% to $198.91 and Uniswap (UNI) added 8.2% to $7.26, though both remain down roughly 20% over 30 days.

The losers were led by Worldcoin (WLD), down 11.5% on the week and 30.2% over 30 days, followed by Polkadot (DOT) at -7.7%, Mantle (MNT) at -7.3%, MemeCore (M) at -7.1% and Hedera (HBAR) at -6.5%. Turnover data adds a twist: Pepe traded $466 million in 24 hours, a 22.9% turnover rate — unusually heavy trading for its size — followed by Aave at 10.6%, NEAR at 10.1% and Uniswap at 9.8%. Heavy turnover plus a rising price is a very different signal from heavy turnover plus a falling one, and Pepe had the former this week.

One more breadth number deserves attention: only 13 of the top 50 coins finished the week higher. That is a narrow market. When fewer than a third of large coins rise, stock-picking — or coin-picking — matters far more than simply "being in crypto," and the ATH ranking below becomes a stock-picker's tool rather than a market-timing one.

Why Hyperliquid Is Closest to Its Peak

Hyperliquid's 10.4% gap is not an accident of one good week. The perpetuals exchange token has spent the year building a real business — on-chain derivatives trading with deep liquidity — and this week it did something no other top-10 coin managed: it rose double digits while Bitcoin fell. Its $22.3 billion market value now sits above Zcash and Dogecoin, and its weekly gain of 15.3% was the best in the entire top 50.

But the honest version of the story includes a warning. Hyperliquid is still down 3.3% over 30 days, which means the week's surge mostly undid October damage. And HYPE holders have fresh reason for caution: just days ago, Hyperliquid's HLP vault lost $556,000 to 16 coordinated wallets in the XPL plunge. A coin can sit near its record high and still carry live, specific risks — proximity to a peak is not a safety rating. That is exactly why the checklist later in this article exists.

What would push HYPE to a new high? Continued derivatives volume, no repeat of vault exploits, and a broader altcoin rotation. Our altcoin season index reading of 41 after 399 days without one suggests rotation is possible but not yet confirmed — five signals still have to flip before November can break the drought.

Why Dogecoin Is Furthest From Its Peak

Dogecoin at $0.0756, down 89.7% from its record, is the mirror image of Hyperliquid. The original meme coin has no fee revenue, no staking yield and no institutional product driving structural demand — it rises on attention and falls when attention moves elsewhere. Its weekly decline of just 1.3% actually beat Bitcoin's 3.1% fall, which shows the gap is about history, not this week: DOGE's peak was set in a mania that no subsequent cycle has revisited.

That does not make Dogecoin dead. Futures data shows traders are still heavily positioned: Dogecoin open interest stood at $191.3 million with 70.1% of accounts long, and its funding rate ran at 3.7% annualized. But it does reframe the "discount." A coin 89.7% below its high needs an 870% rally to get back — and the last time it did anything like that, it had Elon Musk tweets, a retail mania and a zero-rate environment behind it. If you are new to the coin, start with our complete Dogecoin beginner's guide and our honest is Dogecoin a good investment in 2026 analysis before deciding what the discount means for you.

One genuine catalyst exists on the horizon: Grayscale expanded in-kind contribution access on October 21 to ten digital asset products, including a Dogecoin product, alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avalanche, Chainlink, Hyperliquid, Solana, Sui, XRP and Zcash products. In-kind creation lets authorized participants deliver the actual coins rather than cash, which tightens ETF pricing — and the SEC is separately reviewing whether its rules for "novel" ETFs, a category that explicitly includes crypto, still fit what the industry has already built. Neither development guarantees a DOGE ETF boom, but both put Dogecoin inside the regulated product menu for the first time.

What an "ATH Discount" Actually Measures — 3 Myths Busted

Here is where most readers get led astray. A discount from an all-time high feels like a sale price. Usually, it is not. Three myths do the most damage:

Myth 1: A bigger discount means a better bargain

False. A 90% discount can mean the old peak was a bubble, the project has lost relevance, or the token supply has inflated since the peak was set. Dogecoin's peak came when its supply and attention dynamics were entirely different. Compare like with like: Bitcoin's 38.3% gap and Monero's 24.4% gap were set against peaks from very different eras, and neither number alone says "cheap" or "expensive."

Myth 2: A coin near its high is "too late" to buy

Also false. Hyperliquid at 10.4% below its peak could break to a new high next week if derivatives volume keeps growing — new highs are, by definition, made by coins near their old highs. "Too late" confuses a price level with a valuation, and price levels alone never value anything. What matters is whether the business behind the token is growing faster than its price.

Myth 3: The discount predicts the recovery

The discount is backward-looking by construction: it compares today's price to one single day in the past. It says nothing about unlocks, revenue, regulation or competition — the four forces that actually decide whether a gap closes. November alone brings $1.73 billion of token unlocks, and some coins in this ranking face scheduled supply that will fight any recovery. Always pair the discount with the calendar.

The Money Behind the Ranking: ETF Flows, Futures and Stablecoins

If the ranking is the photograph, flows are the video. Over the five trading days to October 30, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of $202.6 million, Ethereum ETFs lost $431.5 million, and Solana ETFs lost $71.5 million. Institutions were net sellers across all three major ETF products into month-end — a headwind that helps explain why even a "neutral" fear reading of 34 did not translate into a bounce.

Futures told a more two-sided story. Bitcoin futures open interest stood at $15.64 billion, down 2.3% on Binance over the week, while the average funding rate ran at +0.0100% per 8 hours — about 11.0% annualized — meaning longs were still paying to hold positions. Solana told the opposite story in one snapshot: its open interest rose 3.19% to $834.3 million, the biggest increase among five major perpetual markets, with a funding rate of 6.1% annualized. And $223.4 million of Bitcoin, Ether and Solana futures positions were liquidated on OKX over seven days, 60% of them longs. For context on how crowded positioning builds up, see our analysis of Bitcoin open interest at $7.63 billion with 70% of traders long again.

Stablecoins — the dry powder of crypto — shrank: total stablecoin supply fell to $298.47 billion, down $4.13 billion on the week. Shrinking stablecoin supply during a sell-off is consistent with money leaving the ecosystem rather than sitting on the sidelines waiting to buy. That is a softer backdrop for any "gap closing" trade, and it is the single number we would watch first next week: if stablecoin supply turns back up while prices stabilize, dip-buying has fuel. If it keeps shrinking, rallies will run on fumes.

Solana deserves a special note inside this section. SOL fell 6.0% on the week — the worst of the top five — to around $95.50, even as its futures open interest rose. That combination (falling price, rising open interest) often means new shorts or new leveraged longs being built into weakness, and with $71.5 million of SOL ETF outflows behind it, the coin has the most to prove in the coming week. Our Solana beginner's guide and is Solana a good investment in 2026 analysis lay out the bull and bear cases in full.

5 Checks Before You Buy an "ATH Discount"

Use this checklist every time a big discount tempts you. If a coin fails two or more checks, the discount is a warning, not an invitation.

  • Check the peak's context first: Was the all-time high set in a mania, a short squeeze or a thin market? Peaks set on hype alone are rarely revisited on fundamentals alone.
  • Check what changed since the peak: Token supply, revenue, active users, developer activity and competitive position. A coin that improved on all five while falling is a different proposition from one that deteriorated on all five.
  • Check the unlock and insider calendar: Scheduled token releases, team and investor vesting, and ETF product decisions can all add supply faster than demand can absorb it.
  • Check who is actually buying: ETF flows, futures positioning and stablecoin supply tell you whether institutions, leveraged traders or nobody is behind the price. A discount with ETF outflows and shrinking stablecoins is a falling knife until proven otherwise.
  • Check your own time horizon honestly: Closing an 89.7% gap takes years even in a bull market, if it happens at all. Size the position for the wait, not for the headline percentage.

What Could Close the Gaps

Three forces could narrow these discounts in the months ahead. First, the SEC's review of "novel" ETF rules: the agency asked 27 questions in June 2026 about whether funds holding mostly non-securities should be structured as investment companies or commodity trusts, and whether portfolio limits should apply. Clearer rules could unlock the next wave of altcoin ETF products — the same generic listing standards approved in 2025 already let exchanges list qualifying products without a separate rule change each time. Second, Grayscale's in-kind expansion to ten products shows the plumbing for altcoin ETFs is being built regardless of the headlines. Third, a genuine altcoin rotation, which our altcoin season index work tracks weekly, would lift the laggards fastest — but 399 days without one is a reminder that rotations are rare, not scheduled.

None of this is a prediction. Bitcoin at $77,874, Ethereum at $2,261 and a market worth $2.61 trillion can all go lower before they go higher, and every number in this article is a snapshot from November 1, not a forecast. What the ranking does give you is a map: it shows where the market has already punished risk (Dogecoin, Solana, XRP), where it has quietly rewarded it (Hyperliquid, Monero, TRON), and where the biggest, most liquid asset — Bitcoin — sits in the middle of both stories. If you are building a long-term portfolio rather than chasing a week, start with our best crypto to buy in 2026 comparison and our What Is Bitcoin beginner's guide, and let the discount ranking inform your timing, not replace your research.

FAQs

Which top-10 coin is closest to its all-time high?

Hyperliquid (HYPE), just 10.4% below its record high, after a 15.3% weekly gain to $88.13. Monero is second-closest at 24.4% below, followed by TRON at 28.0%.

Which top-10 coin is furthest from its all-time high?

Dogecoin (DOGE), 89.7% below its peak, trading near $0.0756 with a $13.0 billion market value. It would need to rise roughly 870% to revisit its old high.

How far is Bitcoin below its all-time high?

Bitcoin is 38.3% below its all-time high, trading at $77,874 on November 1, 2026, down 3.1% on the week and 10.2% over 30 days, with a market value of $1.57 trillion and 59.9% market dominance.

Does a big discount from the all-time high mean a coin is cheap?

No. The discount only compares today's price with one past day. It ignores token supply changes, revenue, users, unlocks and regulation. A large discount can signal a broken thesis just as easily as a bargain — run the five checks in this article before acting on it.

Why did Solana fall the most among the top five this week?

Solana fell 6.0% to around $95.50 while US spot Solana ETFs recorded $71.5 million of net outflows over five trading days to October 30. Futures open interest actually rose 3.19%, suggesting leveraged positioning was being built into the weakness rather than a capitulation.

Where do these ranking numbers come from?

The ranking and weekly figures come from the November 1, 2026 weekly market wrap calculated from CoinGecko data recorded at 14:00 UTC, covering the top 50 coins excluding stablecoins and wrapped or staked versions. ETF flow figures come from SoSoValue, futures data from Binance, Bybit and OKX, and stablecoin data from DefiLlama, as compiled in that wrap. External coverage of the SEC's novel-ETF review and Grayscale's in-kind expansion, and of Bitcoin holding near $78,000 over the weekend, is linked in the sources below.

Conclusion

The top-10 ranking is a tale of two markets. Hyperliquid, Monero and TRON sit within 30% of their peaks because something real — trading volume, privacy demand, stablecoin rails — kept paying them while the market fell. Dogecoin, Solana and XRP sit 65% to 90% below theirs because their peaks were priced for a future that has not arrived yet. Bitcoin, 38.3% below its high with 59.9% dominance, sits between the two stories, and probably decides which one wins next.

Use the discount as a starting question, never as an answer. Ask what changed since the peak, who is buying now, and what supply is coming — and if you cannot answer all three, you do not have a trade, you have a lottery ticket with a famous name on it.
